Lots of backend improvements and timestamps - v2.0

I made a couple of updates a while ago but never made a release. So I went back and fixed some stuff. The codebase is cross-platform now but I haven't got around to making a macOS build, hopefully I will soon!

Edit: I messed up the windows build don't download it yet (check back in a couple hours)
