Getting started

• Install dependencies

   sudo npm install
  

• Install Gulp globally

   sudo npm install gulp -g
  

• Start node server via Gulp

  Gulp is used to build the client, start the server, and watch for file changes. The default Gulp task will do this all. Install the Chrome Plugin for Auto Reload

   gulp
  

• Open browser

   localhost:8888
  

Local MySQL development

• Start a MAMP server with MySQL on port 8889

• Open phpMyAdmin

• In the SQL tab paste the contents of createDatabase.sql and hit "Go"

• Reload the navigation panel and verify that the PongHacks DB has been created

• Create key.js in the /server directory with the following contents:

   module.exports = {
       hc_auth_token_user: "XXXXXXXX-HipChat-User-API-Token",
       hc_auth_token_room: "XXXXXXXX-HipChat-Room-API-Token",
       db_user: "MySQL-User-Name",
   	db_password: "MySQL-Password",
   	db_port: "MySQL-Port"
   };
  

  Your personal token can be retrieved from your Razorfish Hipchat account

• Parse the users from Razorfish hipchat server and populate the MySQL DB

   node scripts/updateUsers.js
  

  You need a valid /server/key.js file for this step to work.

• Verify that the User table was created and populated in the DB on phpMyAdmin

Postman Setup

• Open Postman and import collection postmanCollection.json

• Create an environment with the following key values:

   server	 				localhost:8888
   hipchatDomain			hipchat.tor.razorfish.com
   auth_token				XXXXXXXXX-PongHacksAPIkey
   personal_auth_token		XXXXXXXXX-PersonalAPIkey
  

Cron job setup

Add cron job to execute scripts/updateUsers-cron.sh at desired frequency

Ex:

0 */6 * * * /path/to/ponghacks/scripts/updateUsers-cron.sh
