Venus is a very hostile place, containing lava lakes, volcanoes, a hostile atmosphere, and dangerous mobs.

Venus generation is much more hilly than most other planets, with steeper hills and volcanoes. For seven blocks under the vents of the volcanoes, you find Ventstone, a very important ingredient in many late-game items. At y 10, there exists one layer of Sulfate Blocks, which are used in advanced recipes. They can also be ground into nine Sulfate.
The Firestorm is the most common alien on Venus. It is much like a standard Blaze except that it has more health. When its fireballs hit something, lightning strikes that place, making this alien much more dangerous than a Blaze.
The Skywhale also spawns on Venus, at a slightly higher spawn rate.
