Roadmap
Our roadmap is looking out the next 3-6 months covering Q4 of 2022 and Q1 of 2023. The work-streams that you're about to read about were influenced in part by the developers and designers that work directly on our components as well and working with our Pattern Access Library (PAL) community to discover what components, features, and patterns need to be surfaced in the core Carbon components package. The fact that you are reading this probably means that you might even be one of those key stakeholders and for that, we thank you for helping us guide the direction of Carbon so we can serve you better.
The team that maintains the Carbon Design System sits neatly within the Design Program Office at IBM. The mission, as defined by our VP, Joni Saylor is as follows.
Empower and equip IBM teams to ship excellent user experiences, every time.
To deliver on this mission, our objective, as defined by our General Manager of Design, Katrina Alcorn is Pervasive Design Excellence
. Here are our key results that will guide us to delivering on that objective.
- KR 1.1 - Focus on adoption - 80% of IBM Software offerings built with Carbon by end of 2022
- KR 2.1 - Focus on excellence - 75% of offerings on Carbon have reached level 3 of Carbon Standards**
- KR 3 - Focus on business impact
- KR 3.1 - Figma inserts increase 5% month over month
- KR 3.2 - Code downloads increase 5% month over month
- KR 3.3 - 75% of assets are contributed by PALs
