- Communication: Let's use the Code4Lib slack
#conference-website
channel - Current site: https://2024.code4lib.org/ — Github pages site using Jekyll. More Jekyll machinery than most, so ask for help if you're tempted to delete a bunch of logic and hard-code something. The site's been re-used each year for a while, so feel free to improve things since it'll probably help next year.
- Upcoming work: various calls get posted in the coming months, mostly this results in config changes in (e.g.,
_data/conf.yml
, though there are also sample data files in_data/examples
). Closer to conference we'll get structured data (like a spreadsheet of talks that get turned into Jekyll posts). Most active right before the conference, with data entry tasks based on input from other committees and general logistics info (hotel, transportation, social activities, menus, etc.). - Expectations for making updates: for small changes, it's fine to just push changes (particularly if they're urgent). But mostly best to create pull requests and give someone else the chance to review and merge.
- Assigning work: let's try self-assigning work for now. If we fall behind, or have things we want to discuss, we can schedule meetings as needed. We may need to meet closer to the conference when the pace picks up.
