This is the continuation of 4.6.x branch of Midnight Commander: the source code is a a maze of non-sequuntur littered with clever-clever tricks and irrelevant comments. Compare to 4.7 branch: a gem of algorithmic precision, offering the most sublime balance between compact, efficient coding on the one hand, and fully commented legibility for posterity on the other. If you want the 4.7 series, go for it.

This one tries to remain faithful to its hacker origins. Its purpose is to provide missing functionality as soon as possible, without bothering with politically correct code or irrelevant interface candy. If that sounds bad to you, ask yourself what is the MC user base. Rather small, and shrinking. Among those who use it, only few care about underlying code; the rest of us care about its memory footprint and functionality. I want my MC to be able to run on my laptop, on my phone and on my wireless router. And it does.

So here it is, in all its hackish glory. Lots of bugfixes and new functionality: mountpoint selector, diff viewer, dialog switcher.
