To figure out if it was a maven issue (sometimes the local repository gets into a weird state), I deleted my local repository cache (I had to quit eclipse first):
Deleted: C:\users\msm336.m2\repository
Then performed the steps you did before:
- Rt clk Data -> Maven -> Update
- Rt clk Data/pom.xml -> Run as… -> Maven clean
- Rt clk Data/pom.xml -> Run as… -> Maven install And it succeeded.
- Rt click Tomcat -> Add and Remove... -> Remove Data project from Tomcat
- Rt click Tomcat -> Clean Tomcat Work Directory...
- Rt click Tomcat -> Clean...
- Make backup of Data project
- Delete Data project from Eclipse (mark checkbox for delete files)
- Check out Data project/trunk from SVN
- Rt click Data -> Maven -> Update Project
- Rt click Data/pom.xml -> Run as -> Maven install
- Rt click Tomcat -> Add and Remove... -> Add Data project back into Tomcat
- Rt click Tomcat -> Publish
- Start Tomcat
