As I found here https://github.com/ethz-asl/ethzasl_icp_mapping/blob/reintegrate/master_into_indigo_devel/libpointmatcher_ros/include/pointmatcher_ros/transform.h, it seems to be possible to offer conversions without depending on all the libraries of the datatypes that we convert to. This may make the repository structure a little bit easier.
