X Ray vision
The X-Ray view can be accessed in Cura with the [X-Ray] button.
X-Ray shows how many "faces" are behind each other. For example, in a normal cube if you look at it from the front, you'll pass the front face first, and then the back face. In this case you passed 2 faces. If the cube was hollow, you would also have passed 2 internal faces. Creating a depth complexity of 4.
The X-Ray view of Cura views an even number of faces passed as green. And an uneven number of faces as red. It also increases the color intensity if it passes more faces.
This feature is useful for a simple reason. It allows you to spot 2 kinds of errors in your 3D models.
- Holes in the model
- Extra faces in the model
Take this simple clip:
It looks ok. For some reason the half of the top is dark, but other then that it looks ok.
But after we slice it, it looks like this:
So, what went wrong? Well. It contains an internal extra face.
If we press the DC button, we instantly see something is wrong:
The red square is an extra single face inside of the model. This is the problem causer, and should be removed in 3D modeling software.
