All these *.bdfc files are the 'envypn-font' sources. The font format is
described in the 'bdfctool' manpage[1]. Caution should be used when
modifying the files...

Enabling Bitmapped Fonts on Ubuntu[2]

```bash
$ cd /etc/fonts/conf.d/
$ sudo rm -rf 70-no-bitmaps.conf && sudo ln -s ../conf.avail/70-yes-bitmaps.conf .
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig
```
