Basic info

Application name: Extra Life Donation Tracker
Application repo link: https://github.com/djotaku/ELDonationTracker
Application home link: https://github.com/djotaku/ELDonationTracker
Application description: Extra Life Donation tracker is used by participants in the Extra Life charity event. It pulls data from the JSON API of the Extra Life campaign and generates text files that can be used when live streaming to indicate information about the most recent donors so that they can be thanked on the air.

Qualifications

There are a ton of great Python projects out there, but what makes an
application "Awesome™"? Please check that all of the following criteria apply:

  • [x ] Free software with an online source repository.
  • [x ] Using Python for a considerable part of their functionality.
  • [x ] Well-known, or at least prominently used in an identifiable niche.
  • [x ] Maintained or otherwise demonstrably still functional on relevant platforms.
  • [x ] An application, not a library or framework.

Note that installability via pip/PyPI and a developer-audience focus
may warrant a higher standard for inclusion, in keeping with the
spirit of the list:

Additional notability info

Not sure what else to add, but the README has links to Youtube videos demonstrating how to use the program and how it works with OBS for live-streaming.

Hi @djotaku! I think this is a great project. When you say it's well-known/established in its category, do you have any idea how big the userbase is?

It still seems a bit early for inclusion, relative to other projects on the list. Then again, it's somewhat unique, as I haven't thought to look for streaming bots yet, so I may be coming back to this regardless :)

Hey, thanks for considering!

So, I created this for the Extra Life charity and it's mentioned on their list of programs recommended to participants. So potentially large audience there. But I don't collect any telemetry, so I'm not sure how many users I have.

OK took me a minute, but I found the link you're referencing: https://community.extra-life.org/articles.html/extra-life-news/best-practices/streaming-101-for-extra-life-r1251/

I'll take that into consideration once I've got time to do a review. When dealing with single-contributor projects in earlier stages I've got to evaluate a little bit more closely, thanks for understanding :) Definitely a contender!
