Last version before it breaks

This is more or less the state of the project when I taught it in fall of 2017. I've already made some changes since to address some of the issues related to that teaching, but I put off a lot of the larger questions, namely pedagogical and technical questions, for summer 2018.

That will coincide with getting rid of chapters and reorganizing the site, which means structural, breaking changes. Hence, the next version will actually be v2.
