The OOM design structure is by track type. In addition to this, track types can be viewed as mixer strips, not only in the Mixer and MixerDock, but in the Orchestra Pit as well, by clicking on the Mixer tab..

Tracks are colour coded for easy identification, so the user will quickly identify what type of track they're looking at. The Track header colour matches the track's associated mixer strip, so retaining a continuity of visual recognition.

In addition the above, Midi and Audio track parts can be organised visually using OOM colour scheme by setting the default part colour in the track header rightclick menu. Part colours can be changed at anytime, and you can have more than one part colour in the same track.

See the section at the bottom of this page for the OOM track and part colour scheme selections.

Please note this is the longest page in the wiki, as there are many images, and although some information is repeated, we've endeavored to keep track specifics as independent as possible per track type.

This page contains the following sections:

  • Midi Track
  • Audio Track
  • Input Buss
  • Audio Buss
  • Output Buss
  • MASTER Buss
  • Aux Buss
  • Midi Mixer Strip
  • Audio Mixer Strip
  • Input Buss Mixer Strip

  • MASTER Buss Mixer Strip
  • Aux Buss Mixer Strip
  • Track and Part Colours

Midi Track

An OOM Midi track header has the following elements:

Name Change the name of the track by rightclicking on the track header, and selecting Rename Track.

On the left of the Header is the Pan knob.

In the center of the header is the functions bar, the functions for which are as follows:

An OOM midi track is single midi channel, and inputs and outputs are set in the Advanced section of the Conductor tab in the Orchestra Pit. See this wiki page for setting up the input and output for a midi track:

Creating a project/Creating Midi Ports

A midi track has a rightclick menu which is as follows:

Delete Track This action deletes the track.

Select All Tracks This action selects all tracks in the current view. The shortcut is Meta + A (We assume the Meta key is the windows key on your qwerty by default)

Track Height This entry leads to a sub-menu that lists possible track heights. When the track header is selected, use the 1- 7 numerical keys to adjust the height. The sub-menu for track height is:

Show GUI This entry does nothing at this moment in time.

Midi Track Routing

A midi track is single midi channel, can have multiple inputs, and routes out through a single port, on a single channel.

Audio Track

MASTER Buss

Stereo

Mono

Although the MASTER Buss is actually an Output Buss, we've treated it a little differently, and given it some conditions.

  • It's fixed in a project, and cannot be removed or deleted.
  • It appears at the top of the main view in the Composer by default, and cannot be moved.
  • The associated mixer strip, in both the MixerDock, and the Mixer, is always visible.

The MASTER Buss has a rightclick menu which is as follows:

The first entry leads to a directory tree with sub-menus for Track Colour selection. See the section Track and Part Colours at the bottom of this page for our extensive range of OOM scheme colours.

Add Track This entry leads to a sub-menu of track types, where you can add a track to your project. The sub-menu for Add Track is:

Aux Buss Routing

An Aux Buss accepts no inputs, and can route to Output Busses, including the MASTER.

Note that although the Aux buss accepts no routing from other busses, in the conventional sense, when an Aux Buss is created, an Aux "Send" is created in every OOM Audio Track Type, with the exception of Output Busses, and the MASTER. The sends are all routed to the Aux Buss.

You can create as many Aux Busses as you want, and a corresponding send will be created in Audio Track Types, so each Audio Buss, for example, could have 5 or 10 aux sends in it, if that's what you want.

Midi Track Mixer Strip

The Midi Track Mixer Strip controls are as follows:

Name At the top of the strip is the name.

Gain On the left of the strip is the gain slider. Below that is the slider DB value, which is an editable textbox.

This gif shows the audio mixer strip in an open state. There are 2 tabs Aux, and FX.

  • AUX You can add as many Auxes as you want in OOM, and each one will show up in all Audio track types. Next to each Aux knob is a presend checkbox. When the box is checked then the Aux send behaves as a pre-send. When the box is checked off, then your main audio signal for the strip will go through the Aux, and any gain changes you make in the strip will affect the Aux send as well.
  • FX The FX tab is where you add plugins to the strip. There are 1024 plugin slots, so you should have enough for all but the most adventurous of projects. LV2 Effects, Ladspa, and DSSI are the plugin formats supported, and when you rightclick an entry in the FX list, a new menu will popup, giving you options to choose from. Track and Part Colours

OOM has a defined Track and Part colour scheme, with a considerable selection, so we're fairly confident that users will find something to their particular taste.

Importantly, this variety enables the user, through colour recognition, to create templates and projects that visual work for them.

Selected colours can be used per track and per part. The user may create a default for a particular track in a template, but in a project may decide to change some part colours in a track to emphasize a particular phrase, or indicate a Verse, or Chorus. The choice is yours.

Here's the right click menu selections for colours in OOM, and their names. We've put these in themed directories, and hope we've come up with unforgettable names, that users will be quick to identify as preferred, or favourites.
