Configuring services using vbit config

VBIT2 version 2.3.0 and above includes a configuration tool to manage teletext services and VBIT2 boot settings on a Raspberry Pi.

It runs automatically from the install script, and can be started at any time by running vbit-config.

Install services

When you use the utility for the first time the only option available is Install services. Selecting this will bring up a list of known teletext services.

The selected service will be downloaded to your Pi and installed in the VBIT2 configuration.

Once a service is installed the other menu options become available.

Select service allows you to quickly switch between multiple installed services.

Start/Stop vbit2 turns teletext output on or off manually.

Options

The Options menu enables you to set VBIT2 to run automatically at boot, and keep the selected teletext automatically updated. The checkboxes can be selected or cleared using the spacebar.

The teletext packet server option activates a network server, see Miscellaneous notes.

Custom services

The Custom service sub menu permits the installation of services that are not pre-configured in vbit-config.

Custom services can be installed from a subversion repository, a git repository, or by linking to an arbitrary directory.

For custom directory services vbit2 will read the pages from the path specified, and the files will not be removed if the service is removed.
